Tangem’s latest Tangem Pay update adds direct in-app controls for issuing an additional card and closing an existing one. On the surface this looks like a convenience feature, but for custody-minded users it is really a control-plane improvement: fewer support dependencies and faster response when a card should be removed from circulation. That is important because recovery is not only about backups. It is also about containing risk quickly when a device is lost, no longer needed, or should be segmented away from daily use. Faster lifecycle control reduces the window in which an exposed access tool can still participate in transactions.
Tangem says app update 6.0 now allows users to issue an additional Tangem Pay card or close an existing one directly inside the app. The change removes manual support steps and gives users immediate control over their active card lineup.
When access instruments stay active longer than they should, a simple operational mistake can become a custody problem. Lost hardware, stale cards, or poorly segmented spending tools widen the attack surface and increase the chance that a compromise spreads from convenience access into asset loss.
Cold storage works best when daily-use tools are clearly separated from long-term reserves, and Tangem’s tighter card controls support that operating model. By keeping primary reserves offline and limiting what any active card can expose at a given time, users reduce the risk that a routine access problem becomes a full-wallet event.
