Ledger Adds MoonPay Trade With Clear Signing

2026-06-21 · ledger

Ledger announced on June 16 that MoonPay Trade is now integrated into Ledger Wallet for fast cross-chain trading. The custody-relevant detail is that every transaction is still confirmed on a Ledger signer with Clear Signing before settlement.

What Happened

MoonPay Trade brings cross-chain routing, near-instant settlement, and liquidity access into the Ledger Wallet swap flow. Ledger says trade details such as token, amount, and destination chain are shown in plain language on the signer screen before the user approves.

The Cost of Data Loss

Cross-chain trading increases the number of contracts, routes, and service providers involved in a transaction, which raises the cost of blind signing or compromised software wallets. If a user approves an unreadable or spoofed transaction, the loss can be immediate and irreversible.

How Cold Storage Prevents This

Hardware-backed cold custody keeps private keys off the internet-connected device and forces final approval through a separate signer. Clear Signing strengthens that model by letting users verify what they are authorizing before assets leave the Ledger-secured account.
