Cloudflare published a quarter-by-quarter view of Internet disruptions in Q1 2026. The report highlights nationwide shutdowns, power failures, and conflict-related outages that pushed whole regions offline.
Cloudflare documented major disruptions in Uganda, Iran, the Republic of Congo, and conflict-affected parts of Ukraine. The common pattern was simple: when infrastructure or authorities cut access, traffic collapsed almost immediately.
These events show that availability risk is not theoretical. If your only copy of critical data lives in a connected environment, a shutdown or outage can make it unreachable exactly when you need it most.
Cold storage gives teams an offline recovery path when networks fail or access is deliberately blocked. For resilience planning, an immutable offline copy is the cleanest hedge against regional disruption and recovery delays.
