AWS Publishes New C5 Security Assessment

2026-08-13 · aws-security

AWS announced a new independent assessment report for Landing Zone Accelerator on AWS, now available through AWS Artifact. The report maps a large set of native security controls to C5:2020 requirements, giving regulated organizations a clearer baseline for proving how their cloud environments are configured and governed. That kind of artifact matters because security failures are not only about hacked systems. They are also about losing trusted records of how systems were built, secured, and recovered after an incident.

What Happened

AWS published an independent C5:2020 assessment report for Landing Zone Accelerator, along with a compliance workbook in AWS Artifact. The release is aimed at organizations that need documented, repeatable evidence for cloud security controls, especially in regulated environments.

The Cost of Data Loss

When configuration evidence, audit records, and security baselines are lost or altered, recovery becomes slower and trust becomes harder to restore. An organization may be able to rebuild systems, but without preserved records it can struggle to prove what changed, what was exposed, and whether controls were actually in place.

How Cold Storage Prevents This

Cold storage helps preserve critical compliance exports, recovery documentation, architecture baselines, and incident evidence outside the live environment. If a cloud account is compromised or online records are modified, offline copies provide a trusted source for audit defense, forensic review, and controlled recovery.
