AWS published a security post focused on defending systems before attackers can gain an edge. The company says its AI-powered log analysis and threat workflows are already central to how it protects customers globally. The post is notable because it frames security as a scale problem, not just a tooling problem. That is the same reason offline backups and cold storage matter, attackers move fast, so recovery has to be ready before an incident.
AWS said its AI-powered log analysis reduced SecOps analysis time from six hours to seven minutes, and that it processed over 400 trillion network flows per day. The post also tied AWS into Anthropic's Project Glasswing and described early use of Claude Mythos Preview for vulnerability discovery. AWS Security Agent was highlighted as a way to run autonomous penetration tests across clouds and on-prem systems.
The post reinforces how fast modern attacks can move and how expensive delayed response becomes. When a threat can spread at machine speed, every hour of detection or recovery delay increases the blast radius. That is exactly why teams need clean, offline recovery paths instead of relying only on live systems.
Cold storage gives you a recovery surface that attackers cannot easily encrypt, delete, or alter during an intrusion.
